BREAKDOWN / LEGAL

PRIVACY POLICY

Draft updated: 17 September 2026

Pre-release draft. These details are being reviewed before launch. This page is not the final release policy.

1. OVERVIEW

Breakdown is an independently developed game for iOS and Android. This policy explains what information Breakdown handles, why it is used, when it is shared, and the choices available to players.

Breakdown does not require a real name or email address to play. It creates a pseudonymous game account so online features such as leaderboards, custom levels, reports, and account deletion can work.

2. INFORMATION WE HANDLE

Account and device identifiers

Breakdown creates an anonymous account identifier, installation identifier, and device-bound game identifier. These are used to keep progress connected to the correct installation, authenticate online requests, prevent abuse, and support account recovery where available.

Profile and community information

This may include the player name you choose, equipped title and name color, blocked-player relationships, profile likes, reports you send, and moderation actions affecting your account. Player names, titles, leaderboard times, and some profile statistics may be visible to other players.

Gameplay and user-created content

We process level results, times, attempts, deterministic replay data, progression, challenge results, custom levels, share codes, and reports concerning custom levels or players. Replay data is used to validate competitive results and investigate suspicious scores.

Product analytics

Breakdown records pseudonymous product events such as app opens, session duration, levels started or completed, feature use, ad reward completion, and purchase-screen interactions. Analytics events are associated with the anonymous installation and account identifiers, not with a real name or email address.

Purchases and advertising

Apple App Store or Google Play handles payment details. Breakdown receives purchase status and transaction information needed to unlock and restore Premium. The game uses Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform. Depending on your region, device settings, and consent choices, Google may process advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, ad interactions, and consent signals.

Information kept on your device

Progress, settings, cosmetic choices, replay caches, consent state, and pending network requests may be stored locally. Breakdown requests notification permission only for optional Daily Challenge reminders. Photo-library access is used only when you choose to save a run card.

3. WHY WE USE INFORMATION

  • Provide the game, cloud content, leaderboards, profiles, custom levels, and account features.
  • Verify runs, prevent cheating, secure accounts, and investigate abuse.
  • Moderate player names, reports, public profiles, and user-created levels.
  • Measure reliability and understand which features need improvement.
  • Deliver rewarded and interstitial advertising where permitted.
  • Process Premium status and respond to support or deletion requests.
  • Meet legal obligations and enforce Breakdown's rules.

Where applicable, these activities rely on performing the game service you request, Breakdown's legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable game, your consent for certain advertising or tracking activities, and compliance with law.

4. SERVICE PROVIDERS AND SHARING

We use service providers only where needed to operate Breakdown:

  • Supabase provides authentication, database, storage, and server functions.
  • Google provides Mobile Ads, consent tools, and Google Play services on Android.
  • Apple provides App Store purchases and platform services on iOS.

These providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, Breakdown will rely on appropriate transfer safeguards. We do not sell player profile or gameplay information. Advertising providers may use information as described in their own notices and according to your consent choices.

Learn more in the privacy notices of Supabase, Google, and Apple.

5. RETENTION AND DELETION

Online account, leaderboard, replay, custom-level, and profile data is retained while the account is active and for as long as needed to operate the relevant feature. Reports, moderation records, and limited security evidence may be retained for a reasonable period to prevent repeated abuse, resolve disputes, and protect the service.

You can permanently delete your Breakdown account inside the game. You can also begin a request through our account deletion page. Information that must be retained for fraud prevention, transaction records, legal claims, or other legal duties may be kept only for the required purpose and period. Data may remain temporarily in protected backups before scheduled deletion.

6. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS

  • Change advertising consent through Breakdown's Privacy and Safety settings when the option is required.
  • Disable personalized tracking through your iOS or Android device settings.
  • Disable optional notifications in the game or device settings.
  • Block other players and report inappropriate players or custom levels.
  • Request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection where local law provides those rights.
  • Withdraw consent without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Because accounts are pseudonymous, we may need information visible in the app to verify that a request belongs to the correct account.

7. YOUNGER PLAYERS

Breakdown is being prepared for a teen/general audience and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children below the minimum age permitted in their country without required parental consent. The final age and consent configuration will be confirmed before public release. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information contrary to this policy.

8. SECURITY AND CHANGES

We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect player information, including authenticated server requests, restricted database access, rate limits, and encrypted network transport. No online system can guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy when Breakdown or applicable requirements change. The latest version will remain available at this address and will show its revision date.
